Officers spoke to several youths and parents at the scene to advise them about their behavior.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service issued an urgent appeal for respect towards emergency workers. In a post on X, the organization stated: "These attacks are unacceptable. Our firefighters are out to protect our communities - not to be attacked."
Investigation underway
All fire engines carry CCTV cameras. Fire crews sent the footage from the incident to Merseyside Police.
The arrested teenager remains in custody. Officers will question him.
